What is CIPP?
Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) is a proven, global solution for rehabilitating underground pipelines. CIPP is called a “trenchless” technology because the pipeline being repaired is usually accessed through existing openings such as manholes. Innovative Vipel resins from AOC are engineered to help CIPP installations run smoother and last for decades.
CIPP starts by saturating a special fabric liner material with a thermoset resin in its pre-cured liquid state. The liner is inverted in an inside-out fashion through the host pipe. Pressure (typically from water) works the saturated liner against the cracks, imperfections and seams of the pipe being repaired.
When the water inside the liner is heated, the resin cures into a permanent, solid state to form a new seamless liner. The structural integrity of original pipeline is improved and the liner’s smoother interior improves flow properties.
