Advantages of CIPP

By eliminating the need to dig trenches, CIPP lowers costs, is completed faster, keeps traffic moving, and helps preserve aboveground trees and buildings. Compared to other trenchless pipe re-hab techniques, CIPP can offer lower costs, greater design versatility, less surface disruption and higher pipeline flow rates.

The CIPP liner is pre-formed into a shape that will precisely fit inside the host pipe being repaired including non-traditional ovals and egg shapes. In many cases where applicable, multiple cross-sectional profiles can be included in a single insertion. Experienced crews can also negotiate a single CIPP insertion around tight corners or through significant changes in grade.

In contrast, technologies such as “slip-lining” a thermoplastic cylinder in the host pipe require extra access points — often made by digging — and more insertions. Slip-lining also results in lower flow capacity. That ís because the inside dimensions of the slip-liner, which is applied inside the host pipe, are smaller than a CIPP liner which is applied right up against the host.
